Death bug?

Ok, this is probably my misunderstanding the documentation , but I think I was just screwed.

So, there I was, 1st Papal Heir. Number 2. Second Place. First Runner up. You get the picture. Living large with a high faith rating. Along comes this ass clown, I mean Assmonster, or, should I say "pope Assmonster" and he whips out his lizard, I mean, unleashes Godzilla. Well, I didn't happen to be at my machine at the time, but when I refreshed, I'm a ghost. On the bright side, Godzilla ate the pope too. ;D

So, soon enough Lars the super speedy revival guy swings over and services both of us. Poof... I'm in the village. I see Assmonster has retained his popehood, but I'm not even in the top 5. So I go to telehop, to get away from the villiage and begin rebuilding my faith base when, to my horror, the game says I've got no temples.

Now, I thought there was a time when death cost you all your buildings. (Which is what I just experienced.) But I also thought that things had changed where you manage to keep some or all of your buildings (which appears to be what Assmonster experienced.)

However, I didn't expect both to happen at the same time. Why did I get flushed and Pope Ass-boy just gets a free trip to the villiage?

Ok. Someone cleared up with me the fact that it was a "timing issue". Assmonster was pope upon his death and didn't lose his title until the next papal election. However, that raises this question for me:
Could revived pseudo-pope assmonster have crushed temples for the 1 point even though he would have had no temples of his own?

i didn't try it, but it's a good question. i probably could have destroyed temples for PP's since i was still technically the pope.

on the plus side everyone in the game gets a PP when the pope dies.

i once suggested that on the death of the pope maybe the rankings should be automatically recalculated.

also, some of the other old-timers might remember a time when if the pope died everyone had crazy high regen rates because their faith was super high compared to the popes. that led to a lot of attempts on the pope's life early in the hour. those were the days.

also, the reduction of temples on death does seem to be messed up as spam's cathedrals disappeared instead of being reduced. i haven't seen any of mine out there yet either so i'm not sure any of mine were reduced or destroyed.

last time i died it seemed to work. perhaps it has something to do with whether or not there's a graveyard?

I just killed a testy with a Cathedral, which then became a Church.. so it seemed to work. I'll hang around a bit to see if something else makes the temple disappear.

maybe its the way they die? cause spamwise had 3 cathedrals in my view when he was eaten by godzilla and they all just disappeared.

Yeah. I had pleanty of buildings, and, having recently been pope and just shortly reduced to 2nd, I was upgrading like crazy (to claim my points and improve my regen). The first thing I did in the villiage was a telehop, which failed. So, none of the 3 that Assmonster saw, nor the countless others I had built up survived my death.

More bugginess - when bobushkajuanito died, none of his temples reduced (actually, I'm assuming bobushkajuanito's churches are the "Followers of Bob" - may be wrong. Bobushkajuanito died on one of my temples, which was on fire, as were all of the follower of bob temples around me.

My mistake. Those weren't here temples.

My churches disappeared when I died, too, instead of just reducing.
So now I've found out why everyone used to kill the pope! That's a cool idea...

I don't think the rankings should be recalculated on the Pope's death. It makes it like a special event.

Damnit! I just died (with advanced temples a plenty) and when I tried to telehop... I don't have anywhere to go.

Both times, Godzilla was my killer. Does a Godzilla death have greater power than other deaths?

i think we need a testy with a few cathedrals and churchs and feed him to godzilla and see what happens.
