Another thing I have learned today: I can't see all the trades available, unless I have an outpost in the other players territory. I must infer that other players can see my trades if they have an outpost in my territory, since other players have traded with me, but I cannot see their trades. As a young nation, I must build more outposts to gain more trading partners to tech up quickly and join the battle. Hooray for boobies!

also, I'm going to copy paste most of what I have said to my b00b thread on the message board And begin! RS I will have diamonds for you next round. I'm thinking that this coal empire effort of mine might be a little too taxing, and I may be terraforming or changing coal strategies soon. I would have more trades up, but sadly am in anarchy because I cant choose a form of governance. I do like being able to scrap my trees for double coal and food tho, so I suppose thats a good reason for me to stay in anarchy with a green economy. I have way too much power to keep the diamonds flowing, so instead I put up coal trades for what I think I will need next cycle. I would think that just about everyone would need to trade for coal, so I don't expect to be putting too many coal trades up. When I do have the diamond trades up for things I need, no one seems to take them it's not that I cant change governments, but I haven't found one I liked as a coal miner. Technocracy costs me one power to have the sheild, and Im trying to run 2 refineries, 1 factory, green economy (to keep GM up for food), which is a lot of power. I have windmills on everything, but are generally useless because of lack of wind. I havent been able to tech up much, because of the steep costs of teching. the next tech Im trying to get, Bladerunning, requires 46 total resources, 6 refined and 40 unrefined. between the 12 hull I have, the 8 warehouses, 1 cellar, and 7 trees, that leaves me at 28 space (when its not raining), well short of the 46 I need for the next tech level. So now I'm considering that I should probably invest in more hull to increase my resource depth, but to do that I need loads of refined goods that are very difficult to trade for when mining coal and refining diamonds

Sounds like you are playing the game very well, RS.
Thanks for the typo warning.

Ok I rebuilt my factory, and 2 refineries. Being the greenie that I am I have them all windpowered! Here's the setup I have that shares windmills and I think is very effective: A=Academy (1) F=Factory (1) R=Refinery (2) w=Windmill (7) AAw AwwR wFFRRR FFFRww FFwRRR All of the buildings have at least 3 windmills on them, with the factory having 4. I used to have 8 windmills, so this new configuration is a little better. There might be a more efficient setup that uses 6 windmills, but I wanted to use the existing windmills I had instead of scrapping them and building new ones
