The big musical number might've been foiled by Xade's very late interference, but that didn't stop the Tower from accomplishing what no other faction, or what any other players have done in the history of Battle Mines.
Set off a Scrambler and a Doomsday Device in a single fell swoop.
The planning began when Terrorism disbanded to join the Tower, bringing a scuttled Scrambler after Freesoul's DDD to the door. I had an idea; to use both at the same time, and restore the world to a state of serene beginning; no islands, no buildings.
Lynxshaman worked hard to catch up to my Scrambler, and then the final pushes began; taxed all the way by an opposed Senate vote. From 50% to 75%, the rumours began to surface, and others began trying to catch up... and stop us.
Xade and Paxedes paid the Tower a visit under the cover of darkness, attempting to steal the DDD but ultimately be foiled by a reinforced bunker that would not fall. The realization that we were actively being hunted stepped up the timetable. Faction members were called in, and a frantic flurry of action proceeded to see the Tower complete 50% (25% per machine) in the span of an hour and a half, and detonate the Scrambler, followed by the Doomsday Device, as the strains of Christmas at Ground Zero were felt through all the comm devices of every Battle Mine in the world.
And then, the silence, aside from the ringing of eardrums as the explosion died away.
