Trees are cool, but here's an idea... have keeping trees reduce pollution by some amount... give you incentive to keep them instead of scrapping them immediately for coal.

I was wondering what do trees do?
I was also thinking of instead of them being scraped into 3 coal maybe there can be a new resource WOOD. The only purpose WOOD would have is to act as a cleaner burning fuel. In real life COAL produces way more pollution then wood.
Desert areas should not be able to produce trees. There is a reason there is a desert there!

You guys are missing the main benefit.. in combat, trees will occasionally take the hit for your other buildings, and leave you some tasty food for bribes and coal which you often lack after combat.
Sweet, no?

Very sweet.
Nanich - sand miners are very unlikely to be able to produce trees, given their -10% aridity value for Food already. It's hard enough to grow Food in the desert, let alone have enough left over to produce a tree!

I'm a sand miner, and I've got an orchard.

Yeah, it's not so bad. The aridity is cancelled whenever the weather is wet, which is about half the time.
