I've decided to post this here. About a new concept: Wonders.
Wonders would be much like the Wonders of the World we have now - huge, amazing structures that can't really be copied. Unique in the world.
Wonders have the following properties:
1. They are more advanced than Advanced Buildings. As such, they require the Architect's Guild to be built.
Architect's Guild: [1 Coal] 1 Steel, 1 Alu, 1 Eur.
Effect: allows the building of Wonders. In addition, scrapping now no longer costs Coal (?).
2. Each Wonder requires that you be a certain government in order to attempt building it. (Example: "Pyramids" requires Theocracy, "Hanging Gardens" requires Democracy). You can change governments after, of course, and still get the benefits (and in some cases, the benefits are better for differing governments).
3. Only ONE of each Wonder may exist in the world at any given time. Should a Wonder already exist when you attempt to build it, you won't be able to build it... but you can only try to build it when you have all the resources available and are in the right government, so you may be out of luck!
4. Each player may only have ONE Wonder, which is shown on their Buildings Report similar to how Palantirs show up on the Item Report --- Wonder: [Wondername] / None.
5. Wonders count like regular buildings, so Wonders that are made 50% out of glass are destroyed when moving through the Sea of Rust, and those that are underground (?) are destroyed when terraforming. They can be destroyed in combat just like any other building.
6. Players with Wonders get a title to show they have a Wonder, and show up on the "Wonders Map" as a blip. In addition, the Summit shows which Wonders are currently built, and by who.
Now, I'm considering that there ought to be another resource type: Stone. Stone would be mined like anything else, but be a "secret" resource type, similar to Democracy. It would refine into Marble (or perhaps we can have it refine into Sand XDDD).
In the suggestions below, if Stone refines into Sand, I'll assume that Stone will be the "main" resource, and thus Stone would mine slowly (like URO). So assume "Marble" below instead of Stone if there will be a unique refined material.
Here are my suggested Wonders:
Anarchy: (?)
Torch of Heaven
25 Glass, 10 EUR
Effect: Always have access to the effects of the Academy, even while Anarchy.
Fascism:
The Colossus
10 Stone, 10 Steel, 5 EUR
Effect: +5 to vassal times.
Democracy:
Hanging Gardens
15 Stone, 5 Food, [1 Coal]
Effect: +10% grow chance. (20%?)
Capitalism:
The Stock Market
10 Alu, 10 Steel, 10 Glass, 5 Diamonds
Effect: Allows three additional trades.
Communism:
Great Wall
15 Stone, 5 Alu, 5 Steel
Effect: Automatically blocks 3 incoming hits without damage (except to Dome).
Monarchy:
Imperial Palace
10 Stone, 10 Diamond, 10 Steel
Effect: All adjacent neighbours automatically vote the same way you do.
Bureaucracy:
Central Office
5 Diamond, 5 Alu, 10 Glass
Effect: Spies may no longer be dispatched to you. (they get lost in the bureaucratic central office)
Theocracy:
The Pyramids
25 Stone
Effect: All Temple effects are doubled. Always have Theocrat's chance for good luck.
Technocracy:
Research Lab
8 Diamond, 8 Alu, 8 Steel, 8 Glass, 8 EUR
Effect: Tech leveling now only requires 8 Materials instead of 15.
