Here are the sections of the manual you might want to read:
- Interface - Buildings - Production - Food - Pollution + Fallout - Industry - Geographica Battle Minia - Spy Missions - Warfare - Appendix B: Church, Windmill, Dome, Solar Panel, Telescope
All these concepts will be familiar, they just work slightly differently now in ways you might appreciate knowing about.
I hope someone just tries playing blindly and lets me know what's not intuitive. Keep in mind there is going to be a tutorial on the finished product.

I'm going to start right now, I'll do it blindly and see what I can and cannot figure out. I'll post about it later.

Opening the tech tree starts me at the very bottom of the scroll page... is this intentional? It seems jarring - if the bottom is supposed to be the beginning, consider reversing it, or turning it sideways (Instant Tenure on the left hand side, a-la Civilization tech tree). Possibly add an onMouseOver effect to the blue bullets at the bottom (maybe change the blue background to red or purple or something), as a visual effect to make it more noticeable. Likewise with the little circles on the upper left of the map, they make it more user-friendly. Clicking on Politics doesn't seem to do anything - since I am doing this blind, I have no idea if this is not implemented yet, or if I need a building or something. If I need a building, consider greying out the button until the building is built. When I attempt to research either of the tier-2 steps (Advanced Cavernry or Border Patrol), I get a 'We need use of the academy to research technology' popup. I don't have enough resources to research either of these tech advances yet, so perhaps this is supposed to be telling me that I need proper resources? My map shows that I started with an academy, so I am not entirely sure what this means. After doing a full 'turn' blindly, I have no idea how crops grow, or work. The resource screen seems to be hidden, whereas in old battle mines wasn't it always on top? The map makes no sense at all, without previous knowledge that the different types of resources equal different colors. I am going to read the manual now

Okay, some of the things you mentioned like tooltips are going to be handled in the "Look and Feel" pass a few months from now.
I figure a tech "tree" would grow up from the ground, but if enough people complain I can probably change it.
You don't have use of the academy when you are in anarchy. I should probably specify in that message why you can't do research.

Yep, biggest point of order from a starting point is the tool-tips. Need a heck of a lot more of em to play blindly.
didn't have a clue that I could click rubble/crops til I got to the manual.

Whats the story on monuments? Governmental super buildings (Reichstag, etc)? How about Methuselah? Tetsujin? Upcoming projects, or scrapped for BM 2.0?

Absence of evidence should not be taken as evidence of absence. I still have a lot of work to do, I'm not going to start itemizing what is going to be in and what isn't. Try playing around with what does exist for five minutes.
Thanks for the blind playing guys, I guess that is going to be more useful once I've got some UI smoothing done.

Hey, just a quick point- If everyone (at least in the early days), use their starting glass to build outposts - before they realise that they need glass (not sand), to get their refining off the ground...
how are we gunna get Glass to get anywhere?

Beginners are going to get some help from NPCs down the road. We tough veterans can just deal with the rocky start for now. It's exacerbated because we all arrived into a dead economy with no production capacity. Everyone wants the same stuff right now: Glass for outposts and spies, alu for mines. I'm hoping demand for coal arrives with large scale refining operations.

Gotta say, this food business is a fricking ball buster in getting off the ground! Been sitting here for days waiting for stuff to grow.
