I'm surprised nobody's stripped down and built nothing but cannons yet.
Almost unbeatable in combat, could be a viable long-term strategy.
I'd be interested to see what happens if more than one person does it, might break the game.

Or for Juanito to piss me off enough for me to go kamikaze. I won a disproportionate amount of battles with only 5 cannons and conventional munitions only. I'm not sure I think the 1 coal = 1 shot with no other items as cost is quite balanced.

More on this:
Compared to Old BM, 1 coal + nothing to fire the cannons really allows for intense amounts of warmongering with this strategy. It's not at all hard to Ramul for 60+ coal (I did it by auctioning off 2 DMND, 1 FOOD, 1 ALU and some other small things, roughly).
That, combined with 5 cannons spread shotgun across my land with a couple of land size upgrades gave me more than enough edge versus most of my neighbours. I only lost/drew with a couple, some of whom I managed to just re-outpost and re-engage afterwards anyway.
Coal miners might have this SUPER easy if they don't lose cannons over the course of a warmongering session. Just build 4-5 cannons across the grid, stockpile the coal and have at'r.

I'm hoping this is balanced out a little by combat not being nearly as damaging as before, with so many more shots simply missing unless you are chock full of buildings, in which case you deserve it.
Being a vassal is intended to be not nearly as bad either. Frankly, I wouldn't mind sending a few vassal trades your way, Mr. Pig iron.
Vassalages are meant to be easier to bandy about now, hence vassals being able to attack their masters.

Yeah, I noticed that vassalages aren't particularly damaging to the vassal anymore. (NO MORE REPETITIVE TITHES, THANK CHRIST.) It's also tempered a bit by requiring an outpost before you can attack, meaning the cost of combat is 1 Glass + x.

Unless, as I noted to psi earlier, you are attacking your master.

Little use in that, EXCEPT bullying.
