On the Politics screen, there's a button about beating underlings. I did it once when they were all copacetic, and got a Bauxite for it -- but now they're all fearful and twitchy. What's the deal here? I don't want to do something without knowing what the potential effects are because this game is already plenty difficult without exposing myself to unnecessary chance.  |

Beating underlings is available once every 24 hours, provided you've renewed your Senate vote. It's a free chance at most basic/refined materials, and is a legacy from the original text-based Battle Mines.

Beating underlings is one of the few activities that's not documented.
If I don't document something, it's usually for a reason. In this case I'll tell you, there is no hidden "penalty" (etc.) for beating underlings, other than a minor change in titles. There is a small positive Easter-egg attached to beatings that I won't mention but I'm sure many players already know about.
Copacetic, and two posts to his name already.. this essence character is going places.
